The aloe plant is protection, growth, and healing. It is a survivor and is resilient in any condition someone puts it in. This year has taught me to be more like my aloe plants. It has been a trying time, but it has been a time of healing, and growing through whatever comes my way. 

Moment in a Reality is an ongoing exploration. Documenting my routine I have, as an act of being present in this current moment. Discovering comfort within myself and my interior places. With this investigation, I wanted to combine it with a process that has kept me moving throughout this past year, while also reflecting on it.   Flourish

The spaces are explored through photography and painting. Using a Holga Toy camera, I am able to create multiple exposure photographs. I painted my plants with light resistant paint on glass, a cliché verre, and that is how I am able to create these layered photographs. Throughout this process, I am able to investigate the juxtaposition of the outside and the interior with my plants. Allowing for contemplation of their significance in my space and inner self.  

The photos I have taken are a reflection of this past year and a journal of my time outside and inside. Finding solace and comfort through taking care of both my plants and myself. I am also finding new meanings for both life itself and my plants. Succulents and cacti only know about existing and existing now. I have learned that no matter what is happening outside, I can find clarity, focus and hope inside. My plants represent this past year, being present and determined, growing and flourishing despite the challenges life throws at them.
